Dear Cindy

Can you explain electricity so that once and for all and at long last both India and I get it?

They make alternating current! No, direct current. Wait. Ohms. Ohms? Watts?

    I’ll never understand.

    yep.

My father explained it all to me when I was three. It has to do with garden hoses. I know why very high voltage at low amps won’t kill you, and vice versa, but I can’t see how lightning is also following the rules. Quantum tunneling is nice, though. Wouldn’t it be great if you had it down so well that you could do a kind of hand buzzer thing all the way across a room?

1000 watts is one tom waits…
but you know it before, sheila

We know almost everything, Lars, but we stop just short of knowing everything.

I’ve been to the Hoover Dam in Boulder City, Nevada, but all I got out of it was a headache from the traffic jam and an ugly argument in the car.

I did not understand hydroelectricity any better than I did before.

Actually, I sort of understand hydroelectricity. It is electricity that baffles me.

The awesome power of lightning — what is it?

i think man and women are not sooo much different as they think…
i like to think like this
its a quality of ..open mind that makes a difference

but i like your simple question about this “electricity”

i could explain it but…but, i don’t understand it by myself in the end.

life is a dream, that’s what it should be…shit

Well, I have this book; I suppose since neither Cindy nor Lars can help us, I ought to read it.

The only person who can adequately explain electricity is Nikola Tesla, and he’s too tired.

  16. Sheila Ryan on June 15th, 2009 at 7:12 am

Mr. Tesla is very very old now, so it is understandable he might be too tired to explain, as well as perhaps a bit out of temper over the whole subject.
