Meet the newest flocker: the international goat

Goats: The Most Giving Animals Around

A gift of a goat has been made in the name of Clusterflock.

Heifer recipients receive months of training in how to care for their animal; sell the milk, eggs or other products at market; and restore the environment. Passing on this knowledge as well as the offspring of the gift animal is at the heart of Heifer’s model which has been ending hunger and poverty for over 60 years.

If I find out anything more about this goat, I’ll keep y’all updated. For those interested in Heifer international: http://www.heifer.org/

I may not have fulfilled my dream of a goat, but this is the next best thing, especially when I get a Fancy Avian Platter in return. Let’s build this ark.

I love this. I once gave a goat through Heifer, so now I have given one goat and a fractional goat. Hurray!

    Great, Derek.

    That’s wonderful. Thanks, Derek.

Is it possible to write letters to the goat or visit it on holidays?

Oh, Derek, this is wonderful. Thank you for doing this.

Yeah, I was hoping to be able to write letters to the goat. I guess I should’ve gotten my own goat and given it to someone in Kenya, probably could’ve gotten 4-6 goats for the price of one through heifer, though it doesn’t come with the goat training.

Some of the villages my better half was working in they were giving them goats, like all the goats you see here: http://5cense.com/EA/Lilongwe.htm (many of them belonging to the old machete-wielding woman). So these can indirectly be part of the clusterflock as well.

oh, for furniture conossieurs, that table at the bottom of that lilongwe post: http://5cense.com/EA/Lilongwe.htm, was really cool, the tripod base is all carved from one piece of wood. Unfortunately it arrived here in pieces.
