Not For Tourists iPhone App

nft
Espen Tuft of Tuft and Co. — mentor, guru, friend — one of the people most responsible for my professional development, the designer of the first version of clusterflock, and someone I hold dear, has co-developed Not For Tourists, an iPhone app for New York City.

Not For Tourists (NFT) is launching their very first iPhone app. First stop is Manhattan.

With beautiful custom maps and thousands of essential listings, NFT will help you accomplish any task in just a few seconds.

I’ve been beta testing, and although I don’t live in New York, I know when Amy and I visit for the textiles convention in August, this app will be essential.

Not For Tourists goes live in 8 hours. If you are interested, let me know in comments, and I’ll buy the first five people a copy of their own.

Jason Kottke, Jim Coudal, Chris Glass, and Espen Tuft have been essential to the success of this website. Returning something even to one of them would make me very happy!

Update: The app will be submitted to the app store in the next eight hours, then, once the app is accepted, it will take a few days to a week to go live. (Of course, the offer still stands, just wanted to clarify the time frame!)

This is awesome and it gives me an excuse to go to NY again.

If one of the New Yorkers wants one of the 5 you’re buying, please give it to them, not me.

Avid reader though I never comment. Would really enjoy the NFT app. All of the New York centric apps just don’t do it for me….

Hey Deron, thanks for the shout out! The NFT guides are chock full of great content and editorial goodness – we’re hoping we can do a good job bringing it to everyone’s fingertips.

I want it! It’s hard to tell if I’m in the five, and that’s really too high for me to count anyway, but I want it either way! (Which is to say I’d be happy to buy it too…)

I could have done with this when I was set adrift in bloody Iowa. I assume it might filter out to the provinces before I croak it?

I’d love to say me me me, but, as I have never been to NYC it would be wasted, although, I could play and imagine I were there.

Sounds great! I wish it would’ve been around when we were in NYC back in May! Can’t wait to try it when we return. Any other cities on tap? Live in Miami, would love to see it featured.
