summer in california
Some of the places I might not be able to go this summer:
Beginning July 1, the governor plans to cut core funding for 279 parks in half (by $70 million), and during the next fiscal year he intends to cut all funding. If the cuts are approved by the Legislature, more than 200 parks could be forced to close.

This vexes me.
You see all those red dots by Salinas? That’s where I like to spend my summer…oh and those red dots by Lake Tahoe.
I actually think this is a good development.
Easier to poach trails for mountain bike riding without all those people wandering around.
Bring it on.
Bob, I think that’s one of the things that worries me. Most of these parks are large spaces that cannot be completely sealed from individual use and I don’t trust everybody to be responsible and clean up after themselves (nobody will be doing it for them anymore) or utilze the parks appropriately (while I’m all for Mountain biking in most places, some trails just can’t handle that kind of abuse without significant errosion).
