You’re cute
Or, alternatively, I love you.

I am cute. Thank you for noticing.
Also I am like a bronze god now.
Keep recording. I’m excited about the stories you collect.
Michael took the words right out of my mouth! Andrew, hearing even just a snippet of your voice in there… I realized I miss you.
It’s interesting to hear from folks who have families that don’t overuse “I love you.” While I understand why Lloyd said it makes it feel like a performance, my hesitance to say those words when I really mean is very similar to stage fright. So, maybe “I love you” is always a performance — whether you say it to anyone at any time — if you truly feel the words.
I’m keen on this “You’re cute” idea though… What’s the equivalent for “I love you” then? “I heart you?” “I like you” feels so much like talking about your favorite sport or color. But that might be the best we can do. Compare our lovers to soccer and scarlet.
Thanks, folks. The broader conversation was about what Lloyd calls “B time.” Or that liminal time between important events, e.g. the movements between “A” and “C” like weddings and anniverseries.
His idea is that the meat of relationships is built in those times, not the over hyped extremes.
