And then along comes someone with a shiny new camera and takes a picture of the flies landing on the dead horse and uploads it to their flickr account and everyone leaves comments telling them how gorgeous and interesting it is.

I think dead things are gorgeous and interesting visually, but the smell can be somewhat of a barrier to entry for some. This, this is the beauty of photography. This is why we do not practice the art of smellography, or odography, or whatever you might call such a thing.
