Hart Van Denburg

I think it’s time I finally introduced you to the work of my dad’s cousin.

He used to have a web site featuring a whole history of photographs he’s taken, but alas… this limited collection is all I can show you now.

These rock, Kelsey.
That first one–the size of that dog in the foreground. Wow.
I particularly like the Yak with Tag and the Grain Belt Beer sign.
Grain Belt Beer. On Kelsey’s Dad’s Cousin’s flick’r stream there are so many Minnesota pics. You know? Danny and I lived in Minneapolis– not too far from that sign, Daryl–for about five years. Eighteen years or so ago. There’s so much wonderful about that land up there. Thanks for the post, Kelsey. I’m reminded.
The yak? Sheila, forgive me, the bangs hanging just above the showing eye? Sort of makes me think of the pics you post of you sometimes.
Ricky Cameron.
You remember what James Dean says early on to Natalie Wood in Rebel Without a Cause?
When he smiles that sideways smile and says, “I love you, too.”
I love you, too, Ricky Cameron.
(And I dig yer dad’s cousin’s photos, Kelsey.)
Rick, babydoll, I’m just glad you weren’t put in mind of me by the bulldog.
Hi all. Just so as you know, the shaggy beasts are Highland cattle, not yaks, on my fatrher-in-law’s Wisconsin farm.
Rick, you rock! And I agree with y’all about that Yak — similarity to our Sheila or otherwise. Until I saw that photo, I never would’ve thought the eyes of a yak could be so soulful.
These were good to see, Hart.
Kelsey, thank you so much for sharing these. I love ‘em, he has a great eye.
Say, does this image have you bottom left?
Hart, I love these!
Phil, you spotted me! I’m impressed.
Well, naturally!
