Oh, Derek, I beg to differ. I loved Steve Prefontaine. I’ve loved track and field since I was a child, and I remember watching Prefontaine on TV and just being mesmerized by his strategic approach and odd gait–the man ran on sheer will. But Usain Bolt brings a vibrancy and playfulness to the track that just makes me happy all over. Bolt would have been no challenge to Prefontaine in the 2,000 and Pre couldn’t have touched Bolt in the 100. I’ll take them both.
Wow.
Awesome is true.
I remember when I first saw Bolt run thinking how can a guy so big crank it up so quickly. Beautiful.
Poor Tyson Gay, he had a great run, too, setting the American record.
fast. But he doesnt get style points like Prefontaine.

Bolt doesn’t have the stache
Ah. You’re right. Nor does he have the Flock of Seagulls hair.
I stand corrected.
