The ‘nocebo effect’, together with the placebo effect, is something I have thought and thought about, not in a systematic way, but based on my own experience and what I have witnessed — the ‘death sentences’ that amount, perhaps, to self-fulfilling prophecies when delivered to sick people who trust and believe in their doctors.

The brain is a very powerful pharmacy. Make it believe something and it just might manifest itself, even if that means death.

I have an aunt that was a total hypochondriac all her life but never really sick. Guess what, now in her older years, she has all sorts of health issues. Could be complete coincidence… but maybe not.

“The universe only contains a third as much lithium as it’s supposed to.” Amen to that, Brother!
