It’s pretty hard to determine cause and effect from the information presented in that article (though it certainly didn’t stop the author). I’d be interested in seeing the numbers over time, to see which trend preceded the other. Did the progressive policies attract a lack of diversity, or did the lack of diversity lead to progressive policies (as the author is claiming)?

I refuse to live in a place that lacks a substantial Latino (predominantly Mexican) population. How should that kind of thinking be labeled, I wonder?

I know a lot of people who move to Portland. They are all white. They say things like “It’s so clean there, there’s no problems.” What they mean is: something racist.
