I think we're late to the party, too. Mike, his roommate Heather and I hosted a fete to last a year (I hope). A turkey donated by Dad, the butcher (and at 12 lbs nothing to sneeze at), two turnip stews, two cranberry sauces (one spiced), swiss cheese rings, mashed potatoes, corn bread stuffing, gravy from the drippings and a pie contest. Two pumpking, one apple and our second-place key lime. Everything save for the winning pumpkin pie was made from scratch,.. Wednesday!

But I can't wait for Navidad so I can bring Mike to my place for arroz-con-guandules and pernil done by the caring and laborious Abuelito!

India, your t-day sounds a lot like mine last year with my mom. When she offers to split a pie, neither of us are joking.

I'm late to the party. Yesterday we had bits of my family and Alica's family for dinner (11 and we added a few more for dessert). I smoked a turkey for the meat eaters. Everything else we made was vegetarian - sage onion gravy, herb stuffing, mashed potatoes, apple cheddar salad, rolls, and roasted vegetables, cranberries.

Alicia made us chocolate pudding pie and pumpkin creme sandwiches for dessert. My mom brought a pumpkin dip thing (Deron, it had oranges in it).

We hosted last year and found that we didn't have any leftovers on Friday so this year we made enough food for 22.

Deron, two of Cooper's and my long-time friends just got back from Luby's (so says my voicemail). I'm not sure which Luby's nor what they ate, but I will report as soon as I know.

I just had vegetable casserole preceded by a bottle of fizzy stuff that froze in the freezer and then exploded everywhere. That was topped off by more wine than my tummy could handle.

I do have work tomorrow.

My mother, who's never hosted her own Thanksgiving because she doesn't like cooking the traditional foods, just realized this week that she can cook anything she goddamn wants.

So we're having lamb. And a pumpkin pie, and maybe some stuffing/dressing, and a salad.

I suggested that we just make the pie, cut it down the middle, and leave it at that, but apparently she thought I was joking?
