    Yes, Gee does do children’s books – Under The Mountain is a staple of the NZ education system of the 1980′s.

    I’m sorry India, the video makes the train trip from West Auckland to the City sound a lot more romantic / dramatic than it actually is… still a very nice place to live :)

When I was in college, I was sitting on the step of the town bakery, probably devouring a loaf of cheese bread, when an elderly townswoman said—I think she must have been talking to someone next to me, but that part of the moment didn’t make it into my memory—“If you can only go on one trip in your life, go to New Zealand. It’s the most beautiful place in the world.” I haven’t been yet, but I think of her fervent recommendation whenever New Zealand is mentioned.
