“It’s always six o’clock now.”
A bright idea came into Alice’s head. "Is that the reason so many tea-things are put out here?" she asked.
"Yes, that’s it," said the Hatter with a sigh: "it’s always tea-time, and we’ve no time to wash the things between whiles."
"Then you keep moving round, I suppose?" said Alice.
"Exactly so," said the Hatter: "as the things get used up."
"But what happens when you come to the beginning again?" Alice ventured to ask.
"Suppose we change the subject," the March Hare interrupted, yawning. "I’m getting tired of this. I vote the young lady tells us a story."

‘the weirdest thing’

Dr Tandberg said: “I agree with everyone in the science community that this light was the weirdest thing. I have never seen anything like this ever.
“It may have been anything from an exploding missile whose launch went wrong – to a comet or other celestial object that for some reason has been behaving strangely.

Dear Clusterflock
Do you ever get sick of the internet?
I am having one of those malcontent phases where everything just seems like a riff (or rip) off of something else I have read/watched/done. I feel pretty much the same about literature and film. I desperately want something fresh.
(This is where you yell at me to stop complaining, tell me to get off my ass, and make something fresh.)
The making of a David LaChapelle Maybach photo shoot
Kind of amusing.
Nissan V2G
The LA Auto Show’s Design Challenge has a victor from among its Youthmobile 2030 entries: the Nissan Vehicle-to-Grid, aka V2G. It envisions a nationwide electric highway system (the “grid”) driven on by Generation Z, and their cars will pay for use of the grid like a mobile phone plan. The V2G doesn’t offer much in the way of variety, but it’s ultra-efficient, cheap to run, and convoys of them can gather in interlocked formations called “flocks.”

The Beast has also been identified with the covert Desert Prowler program, identified by black ops spotter Trevor Paglen. The Desert Prowler’s patches include the phrases “alone and unafraid” and “alone and on the prowl” as well as the figure of a wraith taken from an album cover by Insane Clown Posse. The wraith is said to represent the Grim Reaper…peculiar as it may seem, Paglen has shown that a remarkable amount of information can be gleaned from Black Ops patches and has written a book on the subject.

So strange. David Bowie and Bing Crosby sing Christmas songs.
Orson Welles Interview
what time is it?
The debate has been raging on Yahoo! Answers for years now, where users have come up with some creative solutions, like the O’s, the 2K’s, or “the onesies.” Some users seem at least entertained by “the naughties,” which an arts collective took up in a grassroots campaign in 1999 but ultimately failed to succeed on a colloquial level, though it’s used more often in the U.K.
Whatever word or phrase, if any, finally ends up catching on with the public, it’s worth noting that the decision has given Americans pause.
I suggest the lost years.
Jason has gone with Noughtie, and brought in Jenni Leder to curate a best of:
Hi folks, I’m Jenni Leder and I’ll be heading up The Noughtie List. It’s basically a list of all the “best ofs” from the 2000s. It’s a work in progress so I would love to get your input on what should go on the list. I’ll also be doing a weekly post highlighting the best of the “best ofs” that are on the list, as well as keep you all updated on any new developments.
The Darpa Network Challenge
The Darpa Network Challenge, which took place on Saturday, offered a cash prize for the first group to successfully locate 10 large red weather balloons hidden at a string of secret locations across the US.
Competitors were asked to use the internet and social networking sites to discover the whereabouts of the balloons, in what Darpa – the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency – said was an experiment to discover how the internet could help with rapid problem solving.
paper battery
Scientists at Stanford University in California reported on Monday they have successfully turned paper coated with ink made of silver and carbon nanomaterials into a “paper battery” that holds promise for new types of lightweight, high-performance energy storage.
