A Mia-Decorated Cake
This is a butter cake with a chocolate cream cheese frosting. I made it mostly because I wanted to experiment with making frostings that aren’t just terribly unhealthy. The kinds you buy in tubs are usually made of shortening and sugar. This one is light cream cheese, confectioner’s sugar, chocolate, and 1/4 cup of butter. And Mia added the little jellies to the top of it.

Spiral jellies. Confectionary landscape art. Beautiful and ephemeral.
Beautiful. I took a cake decorating class with my dad when I was twelve and it was one of the best things I ever did. I should probably tell him that one of these days.
This is a marvelous insight into the life of the Scrogginses. P is for fish.
Not said like “hobbitses” although always makes me think of it.
I’m partial to sour cream–based chocolate frostings. And, you know, ganache. Both are less unhealthy than boughten frosting, but that’s a hella low bar.
I don’t eat cakes and the like as a rule, but, I can always be tempted with home-made cake – Mia’s contribution brings it to life.
Daryl, I also love the shot – the colours are great and photo in general reminds me of Martin Parr’s work as well as the cover of Let It Bleed.
Oh, that’s great, Phil. The cover of Let It Bleed, indeed. Yes, indeed.
