My god, other people who know about and love the Gories…. back in the ’90s I knew people who liked them, but we all moved away and now if I play them for people they’re like, “Oh, that’s terrible! They can’t play their instruments! They’re not in tune! Who’s basement was this recorded in?”

I literally remember the first time I heard “House Rockin’,” and I literally remember the first time I heard the Sub Pop Singles Club 7″ cover of Spinal Tap’s “Gimme Some Money.”

Crude, primitive, and just what rock and roll should be. Rock and roll should, number one, rock. It should make you involuntarily shake your hips. Otherwise what’s the point?
