Marquel Dawson’s dog Stunna has his 19-year-old master — as well as a samurai sword — to thank for his survival after the canine tussled with what authorities now say was a raccoon in a marshland near the family’s Fairfield home.

Dawson initially thought the animal was a mountain lion.  But after examining the dog with a veterinarian, Fish and Game warden Patrick Foy said Thursday the injuries are consistent with a raccoon attack.

“It’s next to my bed, for protection.” That is the oddest birth control method I’ve ever seen.

If that doesn’t work, going on TV to talk about how you used a sword to defend your dog against a mountain lion only to have it be discovered that the ‘big cat’ was really a raccoon probably will.
