    Why, thank you. You are all too kind. It was fun to kind of do a ‘commissioned’ work. Fortunato asked us to respond to a specific set of lines from ‘Philoctetes’.

    Oh, I’ve always loved Philoctetes (in Sophocles and elsewhere). That big old swollen foot. Was it Sophocles who wrote about his love life, or was that a modern poet? Damn, my education’s done all run together–there was a time when I could have spoken raptly about Philoctetes for hours.

    Now that I think of it, perhaps it’s for the best that I’ve forgotten so much!
