Forced Entry


February 19, 2010. Dutton Drive. Dallas, Texas.

Would-be thieves had broken into my late mother’s house eight or so months ago, but the kind and vigilant next-door neighbor took it on himself to padlock the door.

    That hasp looks as if it might need a padlock with a short arm or interference with the door frame is a distinct possibility!

    You never get thinking about the mechanics of padlocks until you really really need them.

    Or really need to open them without the aid of key or combination.

    I learned much about padlocks on my two trips to the Home Depot that stands where once stood the Bronco Bowl.
