Malcolm McLaren died yesterday

Malcolm McLaren, an impresario, recording artist and fashion designer who as manager of the Sex Pistols played a decisive role in creating the British punk movement, died on Thursday in Switzerland. He was 64.

    These intimations of mortality are beginning to get under my skin. Can’t people leave off dying for a while — at least till I get my own shit together?

    Fuck! This just knocked me sideways – oddly the news is full of Tiger and his first match after whatever – odd how there seems little time on the news for stuff that matters.

    I find it really interesting that he died either right on or right around Vivienne Westwood’s birthday! I was also surprised how much the news of his death has shocked and sort of…saddened me. By all accounts he was a jerk, right? But, man, what he brought the world.

    Does anyone remember Night Flight? They did a whole episode about him in the mid-80s that I still have somewhere on VHS. Gotta go find it! Or maybe that’s all on the youtubes now. I’m old.
