Falco peregrinus brookei

I was snapping evidence of the exterior wall of the Knights of Malta compound [for Cooper] when some sort of bird flew overhead.

& if my camera could resolve depth of field you’d see the dome of St. Peters through the keyhole of the door leading into the guarded compound but alas it’s as good as a pinhole.

My mental dome of St. Peter’s is as clear as anything.

Thanks, Derek! Them crazy Knights of Malta. Them crazy birds! You know, Caravaggio was one for a while. But he was too naughty.

Doesn’t this pretty much have to be a Maltese Falcon?

We can pretend it is though it looks more like a Roman Raven [that are currently waging full scale war right now out our window with the sea gulls]. The Birds should’ve been set in Rome. Though the starlings are sadly absent this time of year.

Coop, big Caravaggio exhibit going on here for the next month. You best come back down. & Maxxi & Macro are both opening up this week.
