    I grew up listening to her. The way the story goes is that when dad was based in England he took mom to London to see Porgy and Bess. Not for Leontyne, but because Cab Calloway was cast as Sportin’ Life. After the show he started buying 78s of her music.

    You know, to go along with his Harry Belafonte and Johnny Mathis collection…
