   The Iowan will take a bottle of vodka and tell a professor friend, “I’ll give you $100 to drink this whole thing.” It is a very old strange joke of theirs. Probably because the Iowan is too cheap to really pay that much!

   I think that Steve’s quip may have come burbling up from Terence Malick’s beautiful beautiful “Badlands,” which I am watching again (after again and again).

   Some weird conflation of “Give you a dollar to eat that” and “Kids eat that in KO-re-a.”
