    I had a loosely formed thought a few minutes ago that one can’t fight an opponent who lacks a coherent argument. Followed by the thought: the conservative movement as currently constituted is purely anarchic.

    I think two things are interesting about this exchange. The first is the obvious double standard set by Whitman and Tom Brokow (who in the framing of the question to Jerry Brown compares “whore” to “the N-word”).

    The second is that in a state as broken and California the debate is suddenly focused on what a campaign aide said in a private conversation.
