Electricity | Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band
Deron and I been going back and forth about Walt Whitman, and and now I am meditating on Whitman and my other main man, William Blake. Sometimes one or the other of them feels present to me in a way that is electrifying.

A bit random, but I just wanted to say that I love Clusterflock. One of my all-time favs in my reader. I grew up in Texas, choose to spend most of my vacation days in West Texas, and have a soft spot for Captain Beefheart – so Clusterflock feels like postcards from home, or some memory of home. So, thank you. That is all.
Anyone who loves the artist formerly known as Captain Beefheart is a friend of mine.
His mother’s name was Willie Sue. She was from Arkansas. I love that little detail.
I remember reading some other little detail about the teenage years when Frank Zappa would come over to his house. Something about Frank asking Don’s mother for a Pepsi.
I also like it that his father drove a doughnut delivery truck.
I love the man.
Don. Van. Vliet.
I need to make some money and buy one of his paintings.
I wonder where in Arkansas.
that sort of question, Sheila, leads to trouble.
I haven’t seen that, the place in Arkansas. I am guessing some podunk, I don’t know why.
I have a cousin Willie and a sister-in-law, also named Willie. They both are Willie Ann, though.
I’m thinking, Andrew, that either it leads to trouble or a really great country song — which could be one and the same.
That’s a lot of Willies, Carole. I once worked for a woman named Willie.
And yes, the guy on the far right is Ry Cooder and yes, I know I have posted this before and that I have pointed that out before.
I am getting into the role of repetitious Aunt Sheila.
