My Driftless Regional Winter

seems to be shaping up like this scene from Guy Maddin’s My Winnipeg.

Oh. The squirrel-scorching might be NSFC as well. Not suitable for Cindy.

I don’t know why I do these things.

Okay, I’m not gonna watch it. Thank you for the warning.

    Squirrels are sweet.

It’s an animation. But I figure you have a vivid imagination.

  4. Sheila Ryan on December 13th, 2010 at 1:23 pm

Actually, Cindy, you might like it.

  5. Cindy Scroggins on December 13th, 2010 at 1:33 pm

    Nope. Scared.

Thank you for the warning, Shelia. It is bad enough here. I thought my nose was going to freeze last night, as I slept in my very own house. The Iowan kept saying, “But I bought you this nice authentic down comforter.” Like that was all I needed to stave off death by winter.

    December, January, February, March….

It’s been a long December and there’s reason to believe maybe this year will be better than the last.

    Or maybe not.

    Fuck it’s cold up here.

  9. Sheila Ryan on December 13th, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Fuck, it’s cold down here, too!

Time to go borrow some more fire wood . . . heh, heh.

  10. Sheila Ryan on December 13th, 2010 at 10:37 pm

Okay, it’s only -2.2 °F here at 10:40 PM or whatever. It won’t get that much colder ’round 3:00 or 4:00 AM.

Reckon it’s a mite frostier up there Ontario way, eh?

Temp is in the same neighbourhood, but the 25mph wind (and gusts of even more) is brutal. There are snow drifts everywhere and my windshield broke and I nearly got frostbite replacing it.
If I wanted shit like this in my life, I would have stayed in Saskatchewan.

  12. Sheila Ryan on December 13th, 2010 at 10:55 pm

I have to say that at least tonight our wind has begun to settle a bit, at least for little stretches.

Also (and I know this is cruel), but “I would have stayed in Saskatchewan” made me laugh.

Even though I have no feeling in my toes.

Ah, come to England. One day of snow paralyses the country, but, generally we only get one day of snow!

  14. Sheila Ryan on December 14th, 2010 at 1:53 pm

It’s been piling up in my part of the world for ten days now. And it’s so cold even within the house that I’ve been wearing my knee-high mukluks and my parka inside.

    But I get around.

    And it’s awful purty.
