I am transfixed with this picture like I have never been before. (via)

This photo has been floating around tumblr for a while, and I would love to find out who the photographer or the models are. I’ve been unsuccessful in my search so far.
You and I both, Molly.
After more sleuthing, I did turn this up.
Following up on clues courtesy of Molly, I’m guessing that studying up on the house Sayn-Wittgenstein and the princely family might yield more information.
A guess: the photograph was taken by Princess Marianne Fürstin zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn and the boy is her eldest son, Alexander.
This reminds me a little bit of Sally Mann’s Candy Cigarette
I was imagining a young F. Scott Fitzgerald.
Wouldn’t this make an intriguing story: to re-tell Gatsby from the perspective of children neglected by the adult revelers.
That’s a splendid idea, Daryl.
Daryl, I just dragged and dropped this into my Gatsby teacher folder. Thank you. Fantastic.
