it looks like the wind caused the tree to split as easily as a banana

A tree that predated Columbus fell outside a senior center in a wind storm in Lancaster Ohio.

People at the senior center who carve statues and toys will be given first dibs on the wood.

I don’t feel like “dibs” is the sort of word an AP journalist should be using in a news article.

    AP-trons are very immature. Snicker.

Also, Joel, AP journalist is an oxymoron.

I guess I have romantic notions of newspapermen wearing suits and fedoras with a little cards that say “Press”, who would rather die for their principles than write the word “dibs” or split an infinitive.

That was before Cece’s time. It all changed just when she came on the scene. It was all like “The Front Page” until she arrived.

I’m sorry, Joel. I was a Unipresser. We had a quota of insults we had to say about AP, or ROX in UPI speak, before they would give us a check every week. I forget I’m still not insulting them for my supper.

They are still smoking cigars and swigging from whiskey bottles, quoting from Joyce while cursing the Man. And “dibs” must have been a joke that got past the editor.

“Smoking cigars and swigging from whiskey bottles, quoting from Joyce while cursing the Man.” That’s the funniest thing I’ve read all day.
