Dear Clusterflock

How do we feel about people who order bacon on a veggie burger.

I’m fine with it, but maybe it’s played out as a statement?

I think it depends on the type of veggie burger. Some are made to taste as much like ground beef as possible and I guess that would befuddle me. Why not just get the beef. But some veggie burgers (most good ones) offer a different flavor to the sandwich and, if you weren’t a vegetarian, could benefit from a little bacon, I guess.

Turkey bacon is turkey bacon. You’re welcome.

Well, this is timely. We ate vegetarian BLATs for supper. They were wonderful. I had sweet potato chips with mine. Daryl had avocado oil chips. On fresh multi-grain bread. With spicy hot pickles on the side. Mmmm-mmm!

My feeling about people who order bacon on a veggie burger is the same as people who order onion rings and a Diet Coke. They think the sacrifice in one area compensates for the indulgence in another. It doesn’t bother me, but I laugh out loud when I see it happen.

I don’t give a flying fuck about turkey bacon.

I’ve never really had bacon on a veggie burger, but I actually like veggie burgers, and I like bacon. It doesn’t seem so wrong to combine them. Likewise, I just prefer Diet Coke these days (it’s an acquired taste and then habit), even with onion rings.

If it tastes good, I’ll eat it.

Related: Today, near where I live, I saw a turkey hen with six turkey chicks.

I did not intend so crude a connection as you might think.

Well, it’s not a real meal if there’s no meat so it makes sense. It’s either bacon or you have to eat a Peperami afterwards.
