I want to say something funny coupling Stephen King’s IT with Wil Wheaton. I know Wil wasn’t in “IT,” but it resonates. (Don’t ask me how I stitch things together.)
He was. Pauline Kael wrote a nice long write up about what a piece of shit movie it was. I just read it the other day in Hooked. She says something to the effect that any movie that tries to have a moral is nonsense. Only she said it right.
All (nearly all? “The Shining” notwithstanding, and maybe even that) movies based on a Stephen King novel or story are not good. IMHO. I read a lot of Stephen King, years ago. I don’t read him much anymore, but he does put out a “page-turner,” if you can stand his machinations.) I remember Lish saying something like, “It’s better to be Stephen King, than to read Stephen King.”
balls, honk, twitter

Wasn’t Wil in the movie version of Stand by Me?

Also, Joel, that was really good.

I think The Shawshank Redemption is a good movie. I’ve never read King, though. Not my cup of tea.
My wife made us watch the Made-For-TV movie adaptation of The Langoliers because it was on Netflix and she’d watched it as a kid.
It was pretty terrible.
