Jenny, I got your number

Michael Lugo pointed out that the telephone number 867-5309 is prime and may be the largest prime number to appear in the title of a popular song.

Wow. That’s a big leap from “Highway 61 Revisited.”

Not only that, but Tommy Tutone hail from Willits, CA, area code 707, so if someone were to call this Jenny long distance you’d dial 17078675309, which is also prime, with even less of a chance of being prime. If you use the prime equation 1/ln(x), the chances of that 11-digit number being prime are about 4%. The chances of BOTH numbers being prime is roughly 0.25%. Too unlikely to shrug off as coincidence, I’d say. The guy who wrote the song (Alex Call) not Tommy, apparently knew his math….
