Poses

Sadly, the music in the video is a bit too loud and overtakes the vocals, but the meaning is still just as clear and as it is glorious.

Regardless, fantastic work by Yolanda Dominguez (via Today and Tomorrow).

Yes, that needs to be rerecorded, but thank you, Andrew.

The sound, given the video, feels to me “on purpose.” We hear clearly the line meant to be heard. It would be fun to hear the rest, but we’re left to feel like the passers-by in the video. “What is this?”

I felt like this on the plane from Chicago a few days ago. As we were taxi-ing to the runway, I noticed the overhead bin wasn’t latched two bins in front of my row. I thought, “Ooo, the stewards didn’t make sure it was latched.” I watched it bounce in and out as we taxied, aware that luggage was up there that could be dislodged during take-off and/or landing. My imagination worked over-time. On a bank in take-off, the bin might leak its contents onto those below. It might be okay, but…I knew about it. Two rows ahead, underneath the bin, a lady sat who was brought on the plane in a wheel-chair. “Do I ring a steward?” I wondered. Imagining the untoward notice, what with the stewards latched into their seats in the back. I finally did what I thought best to do. I tapped the guy one row in front of me. I pointed. Said, “That bin isn’t fastened, can you reach it?” He said, “What?” I repeated a little louder. He unlatched, reach up and with one whack, locked it. Sat back down, latched up, no one the worse for wear.

I guess the point I’m making, was what some folks looking at the models were thinking. “Do you [do they] need help?” Some walked on by, some started poking, prodding. Me I just thought, “What if something falls, hurts the lady or someone else nearby. What if something happens while I sat here knowing and said nothing.”

I was fascinated by that aspect too, Rick. So many people do nothing. I wonder whether they “see” outside themselves, like you, or they are so wrapped up in the internal that they literally are blinded to anything beyond themselves.
