This is not the first time a fake news story in The Onion has caused real confusion.
Neither the show nor the catalog mentions that 100 years ago this fall, the 29-year-old Picasso was arrested in Paris on suspicion of stealing da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.
Then, in 1978, he “discovered that we think metaphorically,” and spent the next year gathering as many metaphors as he could find.
As long as the computers are semiliterate, the clerks will have jobs.
