Secret Santa
People are starting to receive their secret Santa gifts! Hooray!
Figured I’d start this thread if people want to post what they got (or share shopping/shipping stories).
As far as anonymity goes I’m fine with gifters outing themselves or giftees outing who their gifters are. Personally I went to a bit of effort to stay anonymous but it probably won’t be difficult to deduce.
Hope everyone gets their gifts before Christmas!

I can’t believe I blew this.
I got mine, should I open it now or save it for later?
I got a rock.
No, actually, I didn’t. I got a sardine can sized survival kit. It will come in handy if i’m ever eaten by a whale.
Mine came today. I haven’t opened it yet. I put it under the tree, but not without perusing it. Hmmm. A Chicago post-mark. Could be one of a couple of persons. Or one of others, if someone had the wherewithall to send it to Sarah, first. Or it might be Sarah. Or it might be from Sheila (her visit to the Dubuque Adult Warehouse). We’ll see if I can hold off until Christmas Eve or morning to open it and find out who, if I find out, or figure it out, at that time.
If it turns out to be a Demi Moore snatch-toupee, I’ll model it. (Clothed. Y’all just thank your lucky stars. Your imagined image has already damaged your brains.) And post the pic.
Mine, which I’ve not unwrapped, came with a clever note: “Happy Flockmas! If it snows, use the salt. If you are occupying Illinois, then use the pepper.”
Also: Rick? It ain’t me, babe. Despite the Chicago postmark.
I got a box with a dark chocolate ginger bar, ginger cookie mix, and ginger coated popcorn. One of my friends had the munchies over the weekend so we ate all the popcorn. I’m making the cookies tonight to take to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo tomorrow.
One down, possibly several to go.
Clue: I sent a gift to a boy.
Here’s mine:

I think my favorite is the “1-inch button”.
I’m not going to give it away to help the rest of you, but I have a pretty good hint at where mine may have come from. Unless Santa shares an email address with someone on here…
That’s a really great one.
I just want to know how Kelsey knew I was almost out of Earl Grey tea.
Pondering your Coudal gift could open up a can of worms, Casey. Chicago wasn’t awarded the title of Transportation Hub for nothing, you know. A gift associated with Chicago might not be from a person in Chicago, you know.
On the other hand, it might be.
Yes, Sheila — but it’s not the origin as much as the contact email address listed on the shipping list. Unless it is a very elaborate ruse, which I suppose is possible.
I had to exchange my large honey badger t-shirt for a medium (depending on the cut often I wear a small) so, like I said, I assume my Santa knows me, but not from in person.
To be fair, most of your videos are from the neck up.
And you were my guess.
I thought I was pretty sneaky getting you and Andrew to spill which Wire & Twine shirts you were missing before the names were announced.
Kelsey, take notes for spy school.
Well like I said, she did a pretty good job with the spyingness
Kelsey knows all.
I got a drawling of a peacock, and I do like peacocks.
David and I are waiting until Christmas morning to open our presents. And Joel, did you figure out what those seeds are?
Weed.
Now I’m worried I threw away seeds.
Where were they?
Durian.
They were with the book. It was kind of a package thing.
Magic poppy seeds.
Speaking of durian: Does anyone remember what happened to that nasty essence of durian I brought to clusterflockstock3 (courtesy of Joel)? As I recall, it was pretty tame compared with the reality of the durian some of us actually smelled and ate, but now I am wondering: Did I leave it there at the farm? If so, might it have fallen into the hands of some hapless person who attended a retreat later that year?
I didn’t see a return address on my package so thanks to whomever both for delicious cookies and delicious mystery. Eating the earl grey cookies now with lady grey tea. Om nom nom.
I got the Bedroom Community X-mas compilation in a package with a KC return address. It is very fine and I heart it and my secret Santa.
Sarah, thanks for suggesting this. This has turned out to be really lovely. Who hasn’t received their Santa gift? Who has, and hasn’t said what it was?
Yes, Sarah, thank you for suggesting and organizing this! It was very fun.
I haven’t opened it yet, but I’ll report on Christmas day. And thank you, Sarah for pulling it all together.
Bless us every one.
Christmas was a little more rockin’ this year thanks to the print sent to me by my mystery Santa. Thank you, whoever you are (Spiderman?). I’ll frame it and hang it next to my diploma.
Balls and shaft, my attempt to include an image in my post failed harder than Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley’s marriage (too soon?). Here’s the link.
David, that’s awesome. Thank you for putting your name on my shipping box. Keeping you a secret all this time was difficult. Shopping for this was harder than I thought it would be. I had Sarah. Since she started this and remained pretty anonymous in the efforts to get interest, I chose the tactic of making it get shipped as anonymously as possible. I wanted to send her mini-bar sized bottles of whiskey, homemade cookies, and something from her Amazon wishlist. However, $15 was not going to spread that far.
Also, her Amazon wishlist has an awful lot of textbooks.
It’s never too soon for a joke about marriage.
