Wreath this year…

I didn’t do a wreath for DIFFA this year. This one, I did at a client’s house this morning.

I hope they like it. The feathery greenery, painted silver, at the bottom the wreath: I couldn’t decide if it looked like hoar-frost or Santa’s beard, but it seemed terribly original.

Danny said, “It looks like the ghost of Christmas past.”

    I love it!

I like this, Rick. The green emerges–holding off the hoary rime. I said hoary rime and it felt good.

Rick, I love the sprays of silver emerging all around. This is wonderful.

Thank you, all y’all. Daryl, one doesn’t get to use the phrase “hoary rime,” many times in a lifetime. I’m glad to play a part in your opportunity.

I was reluctant to “chime in” on Christmas display having had so many years in retail. This morning, Kristopher asked me if I cared to come along. I felt compelled to. I told Kristopher, “There is the dread, the dread, then starting and doing.” Within minutes, given what there was there to work with, I started riffing. Playing jazz, as I have a little experience in that world to inhabit. I played a few notes.

For the record, after, I had silver sparkles all over me. My coat, my hat, my face. I had to wash my face well, before I went for a second interview for my winter temp job. I don’t think I looked like an elf, when I got there at 3:00 this afternoon. Who can say? At least the sparkles weren’t on my skin. (But they live inside me.)

Fantastic! I love that sassy silver branch on top to the side, the chapeau.

    Cece. You see.

In my mind it was the little crown worn by the lion in (Was it from the cartoon series? Or the movie? This memory goes back eons, it could be from somewhere else.) the Wizard of Oz. The little crown worn, cocked, just above his ear. “If I were the King of the For-r-r-r-rest!” (He rolled the “R” as he sang.)

Yes, I see! The wispy white beard, the thick silver ribbon mane of hair, the crown. Beautiful.

I made wreaths too. During the day they don’t look like holiday wreaths, just meh, simple coils of grape vines. But at night, the tiny LED lights I wove through the leaves turn on and white circles float in the door and window. They’re my Cinderella wreaths! The LEDs really do look otherworldly.

Do try to take and share a picture, Cece.
