He seems like the kind of guy who would always be dropping that tidbit of information into the conversation at parties.
How many people were forced to buy Windows licenses they didn’t want/need? How many man-years have been lost to blue-screens-of-death, reboots, and reinstalls? How many people have had strokes or heart-attacks while combating same?
All rhetorical questions, of course.
I just finished the Steve Jobs biography and was surprised at the profanity from Gates in his exchanges with Jobs. I think this reveals how well Gates has presented himself as the saintly figure. Then again, he has given away 48% of his net worth since 2007. He can use whatever words he wants.
The 99% wonders what the rich do with their money. It has always been the case. There are cases in point to say some try. But when we’re talking trillions? Where does a needy man stand? On the curb, or street-corner with a cup out? Sure, they might pull down $40 grand a year standing there, a quarter at a time, in freezing temperatures or summer swelter. Is that not work?
Warren Buffet, on the other hand, does not mention his massive contributions through the Gates Foundation. He also asks to be taxed harder.
