Inside Nature’s Giants
I’ve been infatuated with the PBS series Inside Nature’s Giants ever since I saw comparative anatomist Joy Reidenberg cradle and spank the prehensile penis of a sperm whale. Last night, Amy and Sheila and I watched an episode of Channel 4′s version: Inside Nature’s Giants: Rogue Baboon.
It seems almost every episode of the British and American versions are online.

Sheila’s there!? Wish I could’ve been there with y’all. I’ll watch this tomorrow as part of my funemployment.
Danny and I have been watching British and American versions of some show. Or British shows. Or American shows. Wait, one was Canadian I think. Camelot. Awesome! Alas, I read it has not been renewed for a Season Two.
We got to spend the day with her yesterday. She flew back to Illinois today.
I’m still quite enamored with Sons of Anarchy. On Netflix via FX.
I’ve also been watching Graham Norton instead of CNN in the mornings.
Okay, flying I’ll forgive. Sheila were you driving through, I’d never forgive you not stopping by on your way to Galena.
Had she driven, I know she would be with you today. We had a good day.
Rick, have you watched/been watching Downton Abbey?
Oh, Deron. Only through Danny. He’s hooked. I’m merely a watcher off the stage. (And I love it. But don’t tell Danny, he’d have me watching all sorts of that stuff.)
It’s the best series I’ve seen in a while. I’m looking forward to finally seeing The Game of Thrones and the third season of Nurse Jackie.
I haven’t seen any of “Game of Thrones” yet, though I look forward to it. Nurse Jackie is a must-see in the house.
We started Downton Abbey a couple of nights ago and are halfway through the first season already. It stays this good?
Also, Game of Thrones is probably the only reason we’ll pay for HBO when our 3 months free expires.
Yes, Michael, I thought so. I haven’t watched the second season yet, so I’m not sure whether it continues past the first season. But I loved the subtle tension of the first season, and appreciated the framing and cinematography, as well as the kindness of many of the characters.
Nurse Jackie is a family affair at my house. I can’t wait to watch the newest season. Of course any medical show means my parents correct what errors are being made on screen. Mostly my dad does the correcting. My mom just curses at the doctors for not listening to the nurses.
I love how there is a life within the hospital, and Jackie, whatever her shortcomings, thrives in it. It’s the other life where things become more questionable. Amidst the chaos of that context she has every skill required and has mastered it. I admire her ability to do so. Damn, I love that show.
David and I are officially hooked on Inside Nature’s Giants. Joy Reidenberg’s enthusiasm is contagious.
Kelsey, I’m as fascinated by her as I am by the dissections.
Yep, me too. She isn’t a bit bashful, and in that way her temperament reminds me of my Human Sexuality professor, Jack Morin. Though he is much less eager in his demeanor because psychotherapy, not vivisection, is his trade.
Wait. I just looked up “vivisection.” So far as I know, Joy isn’t dissecting live animals. Always good to learn the actual meanings of words.
Maybe if we could combine the two.
I like where you’re headed.
That was in response to your previous comment.
I figured you meant.
Baboon penis bone, y’all.
Last week the NYT published a feature on Joy Reidenberg.
