Rejected Letters #5 Is Up

The latest issue of Rejected Letters to the Editor is now up. Letters and op-eds include submissions from Eli Painted Crow, an American Indian soldier writing to Stars and Stripes (rejected by) about the history of American violence. Two military moms’ (Cindy Kaylor and Sara Rich, mother of soldier Suzanne Swift), writings as well. Our Peace Correspondent, Simone Delgado, has brought these in.

There are also letters on the suppression of research on solar energy and other global warming concerns, racism in the American Medical Association, media attacks on “Sicko,” the disgrace of Guantánamo, the framing of the “immigration problem,” Katrina and subsequent white collar crime in New Orleans, and other matters pertinent to the course of human events.

There’s an editorial on the shrinking size of the New York Times (and its letters section) and a commentary and link regarding Dick Cheney “trapped on tape,” where is is exposed presciently assessing the problems that would occur if the U. S. launched a war in Iraq. This has become an important underground story, though is not yet covered in the mainstream press.

Check it out. Write comments. Get involved.

Amazing Video

If you go to Stereotype & Society there’s a link to a 1994 interview that anyone concerned about the Iraq War should have a look at. My colleague, Steve Gorelick, apprised me of it and it is remarkable. If you agree, please pass on the word to any of your colleagues and friends who might be interested. AB
