Divisive

There are certain things in life that inspire folks to make a steadfast stance either for or in opposition. The logic is often fuzzy, but it seems like every fiber of one’s being is involved.
I started to make a list of these things, in hopes that a pattern would emerge with more data:
- Crocs
- Styling of the PT Cruiser
- Windows/Mac OS
- (insert political candidate)
- Rap music
- Rachel Ray
- Marriage equality
- Anchovies
What else might fit on this list?

These valentines from the GOP struck me as exceptionally pitiful. (via Zefrank)
Clusterflocker homework
While everyone ponders their favorite posts, there’s something else I’d like to throw out there in the consideration pile.First: What is clusterflock? This is for the ‘about’ page that with launch with the new design. Instead of a manifest, we’re going to have a string of statements. For example, Clusterflock is a weblog without definition. or Clusterflock is a group of people who have largely never met each other in meatspace. You get the idea. Be wordy or concise. There are no rules.Second: Links to sites we recommend. Currently our list is short, but there are lots of places around the web that deserve our clusterlove. Personal sites of flockers will automatically be included, along with the eight currently listed in the right column. What else would you include? I’d encourage everyone to share around three or so, but again, no rules.
The future of clusterflock (initial concepts)
Back in May we started gathering thoughts for a redesign of Clusterflock. Months later (apologies on that—where did summer go?), it’s time to take a look at some initial concepts and throw in your 2 cents.
A couple things to consider: These comps are done in Photoshop. It’s a quick way to visualize an idea, so what you’re seeing is a big image. It will load slowly.
Also, I’ve just tackled the top of the page. If you’re missing content (like recent comments or obligatory buttons and links), those will likely resurface at the bottom of the page (footer).
Here are 3+ variations to get this conversation started back up.
Drop a comment with what bits you like, what bits you don’t, and help us refine what to explore for Round 2.

While Greg was sleeping I noticed his arm. I can’t believe he kept this from me. We need to act fast.

Wonderland

Yeondoo Jung created a series of photographs inspired by children’s crayon drawings in 2005, and they are fantastic.
From his site:
Yeondoo Jung transforms photography into a magical wand that, with the wave of his hand, casts a magic spell. His photos recreate the dreams of adolescents that he has met in cities around the world. His own world is made up of children’s fantasies scribbled on drawing paper — not a world of reality, but of faded dreams. His photos are careful, imaginative re-creations that bring to life the fragmented stories of people that come his way and tickle his ear and eye.
The 4th 2nd Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational

Sadly unable to meet the flockers flocking on the east coast, I will be almost as forlorn not being able to attend the The 4th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational happening in LA this weekend.
Registration is closed, but folks are still welcome to attend. I’d like to see how contestants can get by with stringent rules including: No flame throwers or clown vomit.
Sandwiches are judged on presentation, taste, and Wessonality.

Why didn’t Prince get electrocuted at the SuperBowl?
I was fearing for the Purple One during the halftime show.
Slate digs deeper. In short (pardon the pun):
Battery-powered wireless microphones, guitars, and other gear keep performers isolated from potentially dangerous electrical current.
Meet the Flockers: Chris Glass
I’m new to the flock and still getting my linking legs sturdy, but a moment to introduce myself and provide a glimpse of my workspace to boot.
Let me back up a bit.
Born on date was 1971 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Weaned on Nintendo, matchbox cars, and lots of wooded acres, I’m the youngest of four and also the tallest. I like to think a growth spurt between middle and high school made me too clumsy for basketball, but truth be told, I always threw like a girl.
If I would fast forward through the awkward years, we would end up in the future so I’ll just jump to college. Majored in Industrial Design at The Ohio State University because they closed the film school. It turned out to be a fine fit even though computers weren’t introduced into the curriculum until my senior year (that’d be 1994 for the math challenged, like myself).
After school I did a good stint making CD-ROMs and then the Internet happened—and that changed everything.
Now I’m trying to find a blend between making things in the real world and pushing pixels online. Future goals include teaching and driving across the country selling wares out of the trunk of my car.
I posted 50 things about myself a while ago on my web site, which is big and inconsistent, but I don’t have the heart to throw anything away digitally.
A hat tip to Deron Bauman for granting me posting access to this diverse group. Fingers crossed I can throw some good stuff up here. Interests include people, music, design, videogames, homemade things, and candy bars.
Love Gods Way
After seeing the music video by Donnie Davies and Evening Service on YouTube called “The Bible Says” I initially thought it was a joke. A bad joke, and not particularly work safe in the lyrics department, but a joke nonetheless. Her mannerisms and style just seemed to be saying a tongue was firmly planted in cheek.
It might take a while to find out if it is indeed legit, and research on the ministry provides no serious insight. Take for instance, this gem of a page at the Love Gods Way ministry (currently not coming up without aide of Google’s cache);
Gay Bands
One of the most dangerous ways homosexuality invades family life is through popular music. Parents should keep careful watch over their children’s listening habits, especially in this Internet Age of MP3 piracy.

Would the real Budweiser please stand up?

Anheuser-Busch made an agreement with Czech beermaker Budejovicky Budvar yesterday to distribute their beer in the U.S. under the Czechvar banner. Everywhere else they will continue their battle over the Budweiser moniker, but this move indicates they might be ready to play nice together.
