Boogity Boogity Boogity, Amen

Easily the best Gregory Brothers song of the last year or two:

Pac-man Ghost Lamp

The Ghost Lamp is inspired by the iconic ghost character from the classic arcade game “Pac-man”. Colorful, fun and with a retro but still decidedly modern feel- the Ghost lamp will (unfortunately) brighten up any gamers den. This colorful ceramic creature might not look very scary, but if you’re old and nerdy enough — and especially if you are Billy Mitchell — it’s your worst nightmare on four legs.

Of course: Manufactured upon order. Pricing by inquiry.

‘The average lifespan of a Saul Bass logo is 34 years’

A comprehensive look at the legacy of Saul Bass logos, some with slight modifications, over the years.

Bass … created some of the most recognizable and iconic logos of all time, but they’re gradually disappearing. The most recent death of a Saul Bass logo has been the famous United ‘tulip,’ which was used by the company for 37 years until the merger with Continental in 2010. This caused quite a controversy in the design world, because 1) you don’t mess with a Saul Bass logo 2) you don’t replace a Saul Bass logo with a generic clipart-like version that’s much worse than the original.

Evernote Peek, an iPad Smart Cover app

This is kind of a cute idea. Evernote has created an app that interacts with the cover of the iPad. When you fold it back, it asks a question based on the notes you’ve taken. When you fold it back further, it provides the answer. Kind of electronic flashcards I guess.

Ms. Mohr even designed a candle to address the flatulence of Rufus, her Rhodesian ridgeback. Made with floral ylang-ylang, white tea, myrtle and fennel, the “Fart & Away” candle “won’t completely stop them,” Ms. Mohr says. “But it will help.” The price: $28.

Deely Bobber

A Deely Bobber (also Deeley Bobber) is a novelty item of headgear comprising a headband to which are affixed two springy protrusions resembling the antennae of insects or of stereotypical little green men. These “antennae” may be topped with simple plastic shapes or more elaborate and fanciful decorations, such as mini pom poms or light emitting diodes. The name “deely bobber” is a genericized trademark; other names include deely-boppers, bonce boppers, or space boppers; In June 1982, The New York Times headline called them Martian antennae.

They were invented by Steven Askin in 1981 based on the “Killer Bees” costumes on Saturday Night Live.

I’ve heard the phrase, “What’s the deely bop?”

No, no, no. Dr Pepper.

Q: I have 2 commemorative cans of Dr. Pepper. One is full of soda and one is empty. The archives of Abilene Christian University would like to keep both cans. Can anyone offer advice regarding safe housing and storage of the Dr. Pepper cans?

A: Try the Dr. Pepper Museum people.
