Meeting Resistance

I just got home from a screening of Meeting Resistance by filmmakers Molly Bingham and Steve Connors. I can't recommend it more. The film is a survey of Iraqis discussing their reasons for joining the resistance to American occupation. Their perspectives are virtually absent elsewhere, and couldn't be more important to expose ourselves to. I left the Q&A with the filmmakers feeling a profound sense of relief that this side of the story is being told with such integrity and sensitivity. I urge everyone to see it when/if it screens in your area.

Pickles!

COOP offered up an extremely excellent mix on his blog earlier today. I heartily enjoyed getting down with my bad commuter self this evening.

Everybody, Just Stay Calm

After a lot of hearing about the iPhone price drop the past two days, I'm happy to learn that Steve Jobs is doing the right thing by giving us early adopters a rebate. We can all breathe just a bit more. Who doesn't love an open letter?

For the cynic in us all, there's a touch of paranoia snark here and here that this is somehow masking a larger problem, or not really fixing the new one created by the price drop. As an early adopter myself, I'm thinking I can at least reappropriate some of the hardworking clusterflocker's dough somewhere else in the apple stock. I'm taking suggestions.

9 of the Best TV Friendships according to Mary Jeys

I watch a lot of TV, but haven't gone through the desire/need to watch television from other eras. I had certain rules when I made this list. Rule number 1- sexual/romantic relationships do not qualify. Rule number 2- coworkers in the context of partnerships are not strictly friendships (no can do, Hunter and Dee Dee McCall- also: Michael and Kitt). Rule number 3- Family love is not friendship love (sorry, DJ and Uncle Jesse)
